Remember how I said the weather here was a bit hit and miss? Yesterday was just a complete washout.
Our day started off with a taxi ride into town to go feed the ducks ... and ended with us getting a soaking and retiring back to the caravan for tea and cake. Luckily today is looking a lot better; the sky is blue and the whole caravan smells like cut grass from outside! I'm being possibly over-optimistic today by wearing my new Kingston Batik Fish tunic from Fat Face with sandals. It won't rain today, it won't rain today ..
Here's yesterday in photos!
The seagulls in Dawlish are a lot more chilled out and less aggressive than the seagulls in Cornwall (mainly St Ives ... ) |
Upon first seeing this bird hiding in the bushes, I thought the poor thing might have been injured .. until it moved and I noticed lots of tiny fluffy feathers around her and realised she was guarding her babies! I took a couple of snaps and then we moved the bushes over to keep her concealed while she napped peacefully. Beautiful!
Unfortunately we didn't manage to catch a glimpse of the famous Dawlish black swans this time, but we did meet a flock of very noisy geese. You can even pick up bags of bird food (which is just porridge oats), for 25p in one of the nearby bakeries to feed the waterfowl!
Then the sky turned black ... |
... and the rains poured down. |
Blouse - White Stuff
There's nowhere better to be when the weather is fine than by the sea, whether it's Devon or Cornwall, but finding stuff to do can be hard when it's pelting down with rain and blowing a gale. Fortunately, even if we can't rely on the weather in the South West, we're never far from good food and tea to enjoy while staying indoors and waiting for the rain to stop. One thing we've agreed on though, we're going to America next year! ☀
