Sunday in Porthleven

You have no idea how long I've been waiting to wear this coat!

I bought it completely on a whim whilst in Bath visiting Sarah a couple of years ago and up until Sunday, I'd worn it once. On the train home from said trip to Bath. I was wandering around the shops aimlessly daydreaming about future uni adventures after a particularly exciting open day at UWE, when I spotted this beautiful baby blue coat in Miss Selfridge. It was a bit out of my budget at £89 and I had already spent too much money at the makeup counter at Debenhams that weekend. I was definitely going to have to pick up some extra shifts at work to pay for food and bills when I got home. I didn't really need another coat. But it was so cute, I had to have it.

Sadly, because of our rainy winters with their torrential downpours down here in Cornwall (and rainy spells throughout every other season of the year!), I haven't had many opportunities to wear it up until now. Sunday was a mostly mild day with lots of blinding sunshine and pastel blue skies, and I decided to dress for the occasion.

I met up with Alex and Sarah in the early afternoon and we sat chatting, laughing and putting the world to rights while munching Oreos, before hopping in the car to see if we could find somewhere to get ice cream in Porthleven. We arrived at what Sarah and Alex both assured me was the best ice cream place around, only to see the staff locking up so we decided to have a mess around with the camera and take some pics in front of the harbour.

A very rare photo of me smiling, with all my teeth and braces on display

Nail polish - Essence 38 Love is in the Air. Umbrella - Cath Kidston
I picked up this Essence nail polish in Wilko a couple of weeks ago for a bargain £1.60 and I've been wearing it ever since. I've tried a few of their nail colours and for a low end brand, their products are great quality and value for money. The gel nail polish provides great coverage with two coats and lasts a lot longer than some more expensive formulas I've tried.

Sarah's adorable Polly Pocket necklace! I may or may not have already hunted down a little brown haired Polly Pocket necklace on Etsy ;)

The sea looked beautifully twinkly in the sunlight but we could see the waves rising up and crashing into the harbour with increasing force - definitely a sign of things to come that evening!
I've fallen a little bit in love with these houses right on the harbour, I can only dream of living in a house like this one day; right by the sea, driving distance from the nearest town, small but friendly community and a great little traditional Cornish pub right opposite that does incredibly yummy food, perfect!

We noticed the temperature dropping so we made our way into the loveliest nautical themed little pub, the Ship Inn, for some hot food and blogging chat. We managed to grab a cosy table right by the open fire just as the sky turned dark outside and rain started hammering against the windows. We even saw a few flashes of lightning; such a contrast from the mild, pleasant afternoon we'd just enjoyed outside on the harbour.

I've been thinking a lot of this blog lately and where I want it to go. I love how I've got a tiny portion of the internet where I can post about whatever I like; adventures I've had, food I've enjoyed, places I've discovered and people I've spent time with and I'll be able to look back at it one day with fond memories.
At the moment, the blog still feels like a work in progress; ideally, I want to polish it up, make it more 'me', give it an exciting new name, buy a professional camera and carry on taking photos and writing about my favourite places around Cornwall. I've got lots of exciting times ahead and I can't wait to share them with you! Don't forget to click the Bloglovin' button at the top of the page to follow me.

**All credit and a huge thank you to Sarah from the Salty Sea blog for taking these lovely photos!**

We used my friend Sarah's Canon camera for this post (not sure which one though, sorry!), I usually use a standard Fujifilm camera but I'm getting a more professional camera soon for blogging :)

I know how hard it can be to find a direction to keep for one's blog, but you're right about having this little part of the Internet to post whatever you like and you enjoy talking about!
